Matthew Richardson grew up in Austin, Texas, and moved to Durango, Colorado for college, studying both environmental biology and GIS (Geospatial Information Systems). His senior thesis was on diseases impacting aspen trees and used mapping to predict where future outbreaks could happen. After college working as a forestry technician, Matthew spent the summer collecting data to be used in scientific research, he’s now working with computer mapping. In his free time, Matthew’s biggest passion is running. Some achievements include a top ten finish at the Telluride Mountain Run and Chicago Basin linkups. Other hobbies of his include climbing at Indian Creek, bikepacking in Cedar Mesa, and ski touring in the San Juan Mountains. When not outside, Matthew can be found practicing guitar, cooking, listening to music, and scheming over maps to find the next potential running route.
